Description

A DBA and walkover survey was carried out by C Dagg in early December 2003 in advance of a proposed wind farm development to the north of the Hill of Lieurary, Westfield, Caithness. Three archaeological features had previously been recorded in the development area: a longhouse, a hut circle and a cairn. Evidence of a relict 18th - 19th century landscape was newly recorded in the field survey. Mitigation measures were suggested to help lower the impact of the development both on the immediate and wider cultural heritage landscape. A watching brief was suggested during the construction phase of the development. <1> The development proposal was altered at a later date. A revised version of the survey was produced although no new fieldwork was said to have been carried out. <2>
