Description
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by CFA Archaeology Ltd between October and December 2004 during the construction of the main site access road for a windfarm development at Farr, Inverness. The archaeological assessment undertaken during the Environmental Impact Assessment, identified forty-six sites with the proposed boundary of the wind farm development area. A watching brief was required to be carried out on four of the sites identified along the proposed access road. These sites included: the Wade Military Road, a battle site, an enclosure and a farmstead. No evidence of the military road or the battle site were discovered during groundbreaking work. The enclosure wall was breached in two places by the access road and a section of the wall was recorded. No additional features were identified within the enclosure during the excavation for the access road. The farmstead was unafected by the construction. <1>
