Description

This evaluation was commissioned by David Legge of Altype Plans, at the instance of the Highland Archaeology Service, as part of the conditions before outline planning consent was considered for the proposed construction of a house on the site. The work was necessitated by the presence of several significant archaeological monuments around the site, and by the discovery of Early Bronze Age burials in the area in the nineteeth century. The work took place under variable weather conditions: it was sunny or only lightly overcast during the soil stripping, and conditions for observation were ideal. The investigation of the features uncovered, however, was hampered by frequent and heavy rain. <1>
