Description
Early in 1997, the possibility that Sandwood Estate might provide a suitable location for one or more of the annual field survey weeks for the students of the Field Archaeology Course on Glasgow University's Department of Adult and Continuing Education was considered. This idea eventually lapsed, but an alternative suggestion that ACFA might become involved was raised, and received a positive response. The initial selection of sites and areas for survey was guided for suggestions from Will Boyd-Wallis. Four sites/areas were earmarked for attention. All these sites and areas were surveyed during the project, in as much detail as time and weather allowed. <1>
