Description
GUARD was commissioned by Jacobs Babtie Ltd, on behalf of the National Trust for Scotland to carry out a multi-faceted investigation in 2005 at Culloden Battlefield as part of a a programme of site reassessment associated with the Culloden Battlefield Memorial Project. Geophysical survey was used in an attempt to loacte the un-marked graves of the government troops in the so-called 'Field of the English'. Both magnetometer and resistivity techniques were used in an area of 9,600m². In addition to possible prehistoric activity, in the form of a circular feature, a large anomaly may represent disturbance associated with a burial trench. <1>
See EHG3692 for the metal detecting survey and EHG3693 for the excavation.
