Description
This evaluation was commissioned by MacLean Homes, Culbokie, at the instance of the Highland Archaeology Service, as a part of the conditions for planning consent for the construction of a housing development, and was carried out during the 20-24th April 1998. The work took place under excellent weather conditions: there was almost no rain and for the most part it was sunny or only lightly overcast. The only major drawback was the presence of surface water in the N corner of the site, and a high water-table elsewhere, which meant that many of the trenches filled with water in a fairly short time. This did not hinder observation of the trench bottom. It made work in the N part of the E area impossible, however. <1>
