Description

Archaeological excavation was carried out in September 2006 to investigate possible past occupation of a cave at Learnie, near Rosemarkie, Ross-shire. Local volunteers worked in partnership with professional archaeologists. The original plan to investigate two adjoining caves proved over-ambitious within the time and resources available, and the excavation concentrated on one cave where evidence could be seen of a former stone wall partly blocking the entrance. <1>
