Description

An archaeological watching brief was carried out by Highland Archaeology Services on behalf of the Highland Council in June 2008 around the south and east sides of Inverness along the proposed route of the new Inverness Trunk Relief Road. The purpose was to identify and record any archaeological features or finds revealed by the excavations for a series of bore holes (B.H.) and trial pits (T.P.) for engineering purposes along the proposed route. There were no archaeological finds or deposits at this stage of excavation but it was recommended that a watching brief is carried out during any further excavations along the route as these initial excavations accounted for a very small percentage of the overall project. <1>
