Description

An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in December 2008, preceded by a desk-based assessment. Twelve trial trenches were opened, including five trenches opened at the request of the project architect to identify the locations of various services crossing the site. The entire site proved to be very disturbed, and the evaluation identified no archaeological features. The site was covered in a general backfill containing fragments of 20th-century pottery and glass, iron scrap, railway sleeper fragments, plastic and vehicle tyres. No further work has been recommended. <1>
