Description

A programme of archaeological survey and evaluation work was carried out by the author on behalf of Mr and Mrs Williams in regard to a condition required as part of a planning application. The development site is a greenfield site located at 7 Juniper Drive, Tomatin, Inverness-shire, Highland. The proposed development is within an area of a recorded field system. Survey work revealed five small mounds on the site, of which four lay in the area of development. Of these four were revealed to be clearance cairns and one a man-made mound. An evaluation of two of these features by archaeological sectioning revealed no dateable evidence but they are likely to be prehistoric in date. No recommendations for further archaeological work have been proposed. <1>
