Description
Archaeological excavations took place from late July to early September in order to further investigate two areas of archaeological potential that had been identified in an earlier evaluation. Excavation Trench 1 revealed palaeo-river channel deposits, five postholes, seven pits and a linear gully. Two flint artefacts were recovered. Excavation Trench 2 again encountered a probable palaeo-channel as well as a series of eleven postholes, eight pits, two linear features and seven small areas of burning. One fragment of probable Late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age ceramic pot was recovered together with worked flint fragments. <1><2>
