Description

Archaeological excavation was undertaken on the site of proposed borrow pit in order to fully record the remains of two stone cairns which had been identified during evaluation work in December 2006. During the excavation a further round cairn and a curvilinear stone clearance heap were identified below the peat. The excavation of the cairns revealed them to be simple clearance cairns, associated with the settlement and field system to the east. <1>
