Description

A GPR survey was undertaken by Orkney College Geophysics Unit in 2009 at the site of the supposed early Christian monastic site at Ballachly, near Dunbeath. This was carried out on behlf of the University of Nottingham as part of their on-going research project at the site. Four small areas were subject to survey and several anomalies of potential interest were identified, the most prominent of which appeared to be a large palaeochannel running beneath one of the site's substantial walls. <1>
