Description

In April 2007, Alba Archaeology (Highland) Ltd, was commissioned by Mr Frank Martin, on behalf of Lifestyle Properties Ltd., to undertake an archaeological desk-based assessment and trial trenching evaluation on the site of a proposed residential development at Glebe Farm, Kiltarlity, Inverness. During the evaluation, sherds of Neolithic pottery were uncovered. The evaluation area was extended revealing a number of archaeological features, which were subsequently excavated. Further sherds of pottery and two flint microliths were recovered during the excavation of these features, along with evidence suggestive of the processing of food in the form of carbonised nutshells. <1> The information concerning this Event is taken from an Interim Report. When the subsequent Watching brief is undertaken across this site, the report will be finalised. <2>
