Description

The plan under Licence 1661 was to recover some more sections of the wreckage identified on previous visits to the site, that were significant because of their size and because they are an important part of the aircraft structure. These included several fuselage side panels, a damaged main wheel, part of the cabin floor, and a Merline Engine. Some digging was necessary to free partially buried items. More items than expected were removed and all were carefully catalogued and a precise GPS noted before being moved by hand. No damage was caused to the land or to the remaining parts of the wreckage. The items are now being cleaned and preserved at RAF Waddington. <1>
