Description
A watching brief was carried out in March 2008 by Highland Archaeology Services Ltd at Mulchaich Farm, Alcaig, in advance of proposed construction of a house. A back-acting mechanical excavator fitted with a flat edged bucket excavated a total of four linear trenches and two box trenches, representing a sample of over 10% of the area to be developed. Within the trenches the topsoil was carefully removed revealing the natural subsoil underneath. However, no archaeological deposits or features were discovered, and there was no recommendation for further work. <1>
