Description

A series of targeted site visits were undertaken by CFA Archaeology in 2013 to sites previously identified in a desk-based assessment (see EHG3978) along the route of an existing 132kV overhead power line as part of the Etteridge to Boat of Garten OHL Rationalisation Scheme. The site visits formed the first phase of mitigation works to be undertaken prior to the dismantling of the existing power line, and also included targeted visits to sections of construction access routes not utilising existing roads or well-surfaced tracks. The Phase 1 mitigation work recorded the baseline condition and extents of the targeted sites, and identified nine previously unrecorded features in the areas of the sites and along the construction access track routes. Due to access restrictions, Kinrara GDL, and three sites (109, 112 and 118) could not be visited. It was stated that targeted visits would be undertaken to these once access has been confirmed, and prior to any dismantling of the existing overhead line taking place in this area. <1>
