Description
A watching brief was carried out by Archaeology North Ltd in June 2011 during landscaping groundworks around the Mercat Cross, High Street, Dornoch. Groundworks were limited in depth. At least one buried soil was recorded from which a human toe bone was recovered. Sandstone slabs, removed during the watching brief, formed an approach pathway across the churchyard and were dated by documentary evidence to 1812-14. <1>
