Description

An evaluation was undertaken by Highland Archaeology Services in 2013 to investigate and record two features of potential archaeological significance that would be affected by construction of a kart track at land 50m west of Batching Plant, Knockgranish, Aviemore. The two features were an apparent cairn and a small rectangular building. Initial de-turfing was undertaken with the aid of a small mechanical digger; all other excavation was by hand. The cairn was found to be probably of C19-C20 date. The small building was found to have had a cellar, an unusual feature in the Highlands and it merited further work. <1>
