Description

A DBA and walkover survey were carried out by C Dagg in 2012 at the abandoned crofting township of Araid as a condition of two planning applications for the erection of two houses and associated services. The ruined buildings, dykes and associated features were recorded. It was found that the two house sites were located on foirmer ploughed land, that was judged unlikely to contain any buried archaeological features or deposits. A proposed lochan was in an area of no archaeological interest. A new access road would remove short sections of dykes . <1>
