Description

A small excavation was undertaken by J Wordsworth just to the south of Loch an Tairt, Glen Urquhart in 2000 on the findspot of a small flint scatter. A trench 1.25m long by 0.25m wide was cut on the north side of a quad bike track to establish the origin of the flints. Excavation revealed that the flints were districbuted below the peat penetrating as muchj as 0.10m into the soil buried by the peat. An additional small trench was excavated to the north of the track which confimed that the flints had not been brought by action of the quad bike or by other recent means. <1>
