Description

A walkover survey, covering the route of the proposed alterations of the layout at Wester Allt Beithe and Easter Allt Beithe hydro schemes and a proposed access track, was undertaken by J.G. Robertson in 2014. This was carried out as an addendum to a DBA and walkover survey for the hydro scheme undertaken in 2010 (see EHG4303). For both Wester Allt Beithe and Easter Allt Beithe hydro schemes, a new access track was proposed running from the minor Kinloch Hourn road, along the East side of Glen Quoich, to the main Allt Beithe track. At Easter Allt Beithe hydro scheme, it was also proposed to re-use an old track, running to the northwest from Allt Beithe house, using a borrow pit at NH 01988 07414. At Wester Allt Beithe, a borrow pit with access track had been added to the layout at NH 01748 06979. Four additional sites of cultural heritage value were recorded. All were associated with C19th and C20th estate management and comprise an old fence, a track, a demolished building and another path. <1>
