Description
Two phases of archaeological fieldwork were undertaken by Highland Archaeology Services in July 2014 ahead of a house development adjacent to Barley Bree Lodge Torbreck, Inverness. Work was carried out to fulfil a planning condition, and included hand digging of 23 test pits to check for possible lithic artefacts and controlled mechanical topsoil stripping over the site. The test pits produced a background scatter of mainly modern material and three possible worked lithics. The topsoil strip revealed three features, two of which appeared to be of natural origin, while the other was a modern cow burial. <1>
