Description

A desk-based assessment and walkover survey were carried out by CFA Archaeology in 2007 in advance of a proposed wind farm scheme at Corriegarth estate, Whitebridge. The archaeological potential of the site was considered to be variable, ranging from high at the northern end of the access road to low along the upland river valley. There were no identified statutory or non-statutory designated sites within the development area. Twenty eight archaeological sites were identified along the access road corridor and six within the proposed development site. All identified sites were avoided wherever practicable in the final layout of the wind farm and where this was not possible the sites would be preserved in situ as far as practicable. There were no predicted significant effects on the settings of any cultural heritage sites in the wider landscape. <1>
