Description
A desk based assessment and walkover survey were carried out by Headland Archaeology Ltd in 2008 in advance of a proposed extension to the Millennium Wind Farm. Although no new archaeological features were recorded, mention was given to a group of stone cairns previously recorded in a walkover of the site. The 25 stone cairns were seemingly arranged in four rows on the slopes of Ceann a Nhaim. According to local tradition, the site was believed to have been a resting place for coffins being brought for burial to the old cemetery near Achlain. In addition to this a group of stone cists were recorded. The potential for further unrecorded cultural heritage features within the development area was considered negligible. <1>
