Description
A walkover survey was carried out by Wordsworth Archaeological Services in 1994 over the area of the the site of a proposed windfarm and its associated access track at West Garty, near Helmsdale. Although no evidence for any human settlement was seen in the areas chosen for the proposed turbine sites, at the head of the Westgarty Burn were the remains of an abandoned settlement. At least four rectangular buildings, all heavily obscured by heather and peat growth, were recorded. <1>
