Description

A programme of archaeological works was carried out by CFA Archaeology between June 2013 and August 2014 during the construction of Dunmaglass Windfarm, which consisted of survey, demarcation and watching briefs. Demarcation of sites was undertaken to protect them from damage during works in their vicinity. A realignment of the substation access road was designed to prevent any direct impact on Site 28, which was also surveyed and photographed. Watching briefs were undertaken during ground breaking works for the haul road, compound 2, the substation and its associated access road, and parts of the grid connection route. No archaeological remains were found. Wall A2 was partially affected during these works; however appropriate mitigation was put in place to minimise any disturbance and record the feature. <1>
