Description

Three hydro schemes are being constructed on Corrour Estate. The electricity generated by the hydro schemes is being fed into the National Grid at Kinloch Rannoch and a private wire links the output of the three powerhouses into a main cable which runs from a new SSE Switchroom (Switchroom No 2) at Corrour Youth Hostel southwards over the hill to the SSE Switchroom (Switchroom No. 1) on Dunan Estate. A desk study of the route was carried out by Jennifer Robertson and a walk over survey of the route was carried out by Fiona Baker in advance of construction works. A Written Scheme of Investigation for Archaeological Work during the construction of the Private Wire Grid Connection, Corrour Estate Hydroelectric Schemes, From Clach an Fhuarain to Dunan Estate, Kinloch Rannoch, Perth and Kinross. Prepared on behalf of Hydroplan UK by Firat Archaeological Services 22 January 2015 was also prepared at the request of Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust. <1>
