Description

The survey covered an area between the rivers Spey and Druie from Inverdruie to Loch an Eilein and the National Park boundary, forming part of the low ground of the Rothiemurchus Estate. The method used was a series of traverses across each area sufficient to gain an impression of extant human activity, with measurements, mostly paced or stepped where sites were identified. In some areas such as heather and bracken cover the effectiveness of the method is limited. Effectivesness was also under question in woodland and areas of naturally stony ground. Weather conditions consisted of occasional heavy showers, dry periods, mostly cloudy or overcast, with ground and vegetation wet. <1>
