Description

A desk-based assessment and walkover survey were carried out S Farrell in August 2002 of the route of the hydroelectric pipeline with a 30m wide buffer along the route and a 100m radius from the proposed intake options, on the River E, south east of Loch Mhor. Twelve archaeological sites were found along the route or close to the pipeline. Recommendations were made to move intake option 1 100m to the south of site 6 to protect a township and a sheepfold, to move the pipleine 20m towards the river to protect a turf covered structure, and to carry out a watching brief in specific areas and to have a detailed EDM survey conducted. <1> The results of the survey were used to Inform an environmental statement submitted to support a planning application. <2>
