Full Description
NC91SW 19 928 127.
A settlement of four stone-walled hut-circles ('A'-'D') and an associated enclosure within a small field system were discovered during field investigation on lower slopes of a SE-facing hillside.
The huts are similar in form and condition, each set into the slope with an entrance in the SE arc, but peat growth obscures structural details. The sizes vary from 9m to 11m internal diameter within a wall of about 1.6m estimated thickness. A single portal stone remains at the entrance to hut 'A'.
Closing on the SE arc of hut 'B' is a roughly circular enclosure about 13m in diameter within a wall spread to 2.5m broad. There is an entrance in SE. The field system occupies 3/4 hectare around the huts, and comprises an area of cleared ground bounded by four or five stone clearance heaps and some lynchets. One plot 20m by 10m is visible.
Surveyed at 1:10,560. Visited by OS (J M) 13 May 1976.
