ND01SW 4 004 144.
There is a pretty extensive plain on the moor above Garty, to the W of Helmsdale, which is said to have been the field of another battle, fought at an earlier period than that of Stronrunkie. A number of tumuli are still to be seen at this place which is called Lonrihoniash.
OSA 1793.
Centred ND 004 144. On a S facing hill slope to the W of Gartymoor is a small group of field clearance heaps of the type usually found in association with hut circles. These heaps are possibly the 'tumuli' mentioned above.
The name "Lonrihoniash" was unfamiliar to an elderly local person. Visited by OS (W D J) 27 May 1960 and (J B) 7 April 1976.
