Full Description

NC70NW 45 7167 0958

At NC 7166 0958, on a rise in open ground, is a hut circle, measuring 11.0m in diameteer internally, with a probable entrance in the SSE. The wall, much reduced, is best distinguished by intermittent inner facing stones. Strip cultivation intrudes into the hut interior.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (J M) 28 April 1981.

This hut-circle is situated on a low, heather- and grass-covered rise on the SW bank of the Brora River. It measures 11.4m in diameter within a boulder-faced bank 2.4m in thickness and 0.2m in height. The hut-circle wall has been set just below the crest of the rise and, as a result, the interior appears slightly raised. The entrance is on the SE and ridging, measuring about 1.8m between furrows, overlies the interior and extends across the rise around the hut-circle.
