Full Description

NC71NE 20 7748 1621.

NC 7748 1621. An oval, stone-walled hut-circle found during field investigation on a knoll on SW-facing moorland. It consists of a revetted platform about 13.5m NNW-SSE by 11.5m, with traces of a wall on the rim; a depression in the SSE may indicate the entrance.
Contemporary agriculture is marked by some linear stone clearance and one or two wasted stone clearance heaps, close by; cultivation plots are not discernible. Some ruinous field walls in the vicinity are undoubtedly associated with the abandoned 18th/19th century settlement to the south.
Surveyed at 1:10,560.
Visited by OS (J M) 10 December 1975.
