(Centred NC 716 353) On NE and E slopes of Cnoc Bad na Fainne are three hut circles or enclosures (DOE site references 7, 8 and 9) and a cairnfield (DOE site reference 4). The huts are sub-circular varying externally from 13.5m by 11.9m to 15.7m by 12.5. They are obscured by vegetation and, in the case of Nos 7 and 8 which are scooped into the hillside, overlaid by soil creep. The number of cairns in the cairnfield is impossible to determine due to the broken nature of the ground.
Information from MS, A Field Survey in the Loch Rimsdale Area, June 1975, site refs 4, 7-9.
These three hut circles at NC 7151 3557 (DOE ref 7), NC 7159 3564 (8), and NC 7161 3503 (9) are generally as described previously with the exception of the second hut which has been almost totally destroyed by forestry ploughing. The low walls of the surviving huts have spread to a width of 2-2.5m, with entrances in the SE arc. Of the 'cairns' mentioned a number are undoubtedly clearance heaps but some of the smaller less regular examples are probably natural. No plots are visible.
Surveyed at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (J B) 10 May 1977.
