Full Description
NC76SW 33 731 619.
At NC 731 619, in almost level moorland amidst old peat cuttings, are two hut circles (A and B), and two contiguous enclosures, which from their mature appearance are probably broadly contemporary with the huts. All features are overlaid by peat and heather and there is little stone now visible.
Hut 'A' is 7.5m N-S by 7.0m E-W within a wall spread to 2.5m wide and surviving to 0.4m high; the entrance of simple form is in the south arc. 'B' is 8.5m in diameter within a low amorphous wall of indeterminate width, in which one inner facing slab is exposed adjacent to the simple entrance in the south-east arc. The interior is occupied by old peat diggings.
The larger of the contiguous enclosures measures 4.5m by 3.5m within a spread wall or bank 2.0m wide. The smaller on the south-west side is 3.0m N-S by 2.2m E-W within a wall 0.5m high but of indeterminate width; the north-east arc is faced internally with large slabs on edge, a mode of construction common in hut circles. Neither enclosure has an identifiable entrance.
In the vicinity are several stone clearance heaps, some about 15.0m apart but generally scattered. No measurable field plots are discernible, and the area is occupied by numerous old peat cuttings. Surveyed at 1:10 000.
