Full Description

Allt Bothan Visge-beatha-Whisky Bothy Burn - so named from the former existence of a hut where illicit distillation took place. (Two ruins are shown on OS 6" maps, 1873 and 1963.)
Name Book 1873.

At NC 739 424 on either side of Allt Bothan Visge- beatha are the footings of 11 rectangular shielings, average size 4m by 2.5m including the two shown on OS 6"map. They are of the usual form, and none contain any indication of their use as an illicit still.
Surveyed at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (N K B) 8 June 1977.

Two unroofed shieling-huts are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1881, sheet xlv) and they are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10,000 map (1986).
