Achnakoyl: Shown as a group of four buildings, with arable.
W Roy 1747-55.
In this area are footings and remains up to 0.8m high of at least ten dwellings ranging in size from 8.5m by 3.5m to 40.0m by 4.0m together with associated enclosures and the remains of three kilns.
Visited by OS (R D L) 4 May 1964.
A township, comprising ten unroofed building, eleven enclosures, a field-system and a head-dyke, is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1879, sheet lxxxviii). Twenty unroofed structures, of which at least nine are buildings and two sheepfolds, a field system and a head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10,560 map (1969).
