Full Description
NC74SW 16 711 403.
Situated some 200 yds SW of the shielings noted on NC74SW 15 (and doubtless associated with them) on steeply sloping and rocky ground with no trace of cultivation, there is an area of about 2.5 acres surrounded by a stout dry-stone dyke. In the middle stands the ruin of a small square structure. In this case, the dyke must have penned in the stock and not protected growing crops from wandering beasts.
Fairhurst 1969a.
An enclosure is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1878, sheet xlv) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10,000 map (1986).
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 9 October 1995.
