Full Description

A: (NC 5770 0898) Hut Circle (NR) B: (NC 5764 0894) Hut Circle (NR) (Centred: NC 577 088) Tumuli (NR) (3 times)
OS 6"map, Sutherlandshire, 2nd ed., (1908)

Hut circle 'B' has been considerably mutilated by forestry ploughing. It is 11m diameter, and is formed by an earth-and-stone bank now spread to 2.5m and with an average height of 0.4m. The probable entrance appears to have been in SE side, and c.1.5m wide.
The second hut 'A' is also much mutilated by ploughing, and has a diameter of c.11m. Its earth-and-stone bank is 2.3m wide and 0.4m high. No obvious entrance was seen.
The earth-and-stone mounds in the area, appear to be stone clearance heaps; some, opened by the forestry ploughing, reveal no evidence of burial.
Visited by OS (W D J) 22 June 1963.

These huts are situated within Dalchork Forest. 'A' was not located and is presumably obscured by trees. 'B' at NC 5766 0894 is tree-covered and mutilated by ploughing; only the S arc is clearly traceable. Clearance heaps are still visible within the wood.
'B' surveyed at 1:10 000. Visited by OS (J B) 30 August 1976.
