(NC 550144) Tumuli (NR) (Area 300m by 100m shown)
OS 6" map, Sutherlandshire, 1st ed., (1873)

Discovered during field investigation a hut circle, now reduced to a low spread mound 0.3m in maximum height with an entrance in the SE, lies amid an extensive area of field clearance heaps, which stretch for 400m to NW.
Visited by OS (EGC) 24 June 1963

This hut circle, set into the gentle E-facing slope, measures about 10.5m in diameter within the scant remains of a wall, spread to an average width of 2.0m where measurable, but obscured by peat growth. A modern fence now bisects the hut.
About 16.0m to the NW are traces of a similar hut. It appears to have enclosed an area of some 5.5m in diameter, but it is completely destroyed in the SE.
Scattered clearance heaps protruding above the thick peat blanket are the only signs of contemporary cultivation. The NW half of the area of clearance has been afforested.

Visited by OS (JB) 12 August 1976

This hut-circle measures 9.5m in diameter within a bank 1.5m in thickness, 0.2m in height. The entrance is to the ESE. Immediately to the NW are traces of a small enclosure which on surface features appears to be oval. It measures 6.2m NNW-SSE by 3.5m internally with walls 1.5m wide. There is no obvious entrance. A scatter of small cairns extends down the ridge. The hut-circle is now bisected by a modern fence. Visited by RCAHMS (SMF) 13 October 1989.
