Full Description

NC51SE 12 5513 1371.

At NC 5513 1371 at the edge of marshy ground and some 100m SE of a settlement of hut circles, is a burnt mound, overgrown with peat and heather. It measures overall some 10m WSW-ESE by 9m with a maximum height of 1.1m, and consists of two semi-circular heaps separated by a narrow gap about 0.7m wide running NNW-SSE. An excavation on the summit indicated a content of fire-reddened stones.
Surveyed at 1:10 000. Visited by OS (JB) 12 August 1976

Situated at the base of a slope on the edge of a boggy area this large burnt mound measuring 10.5m ENE to SSW by 8.7m WNW to SSE and 1m high.
A deep hollow runs through the mound NNE to SSW. There are about 3 small cairns situated some 50m to the S.
