The remains of an ancient Pictish tower situate on coast about 3/4 mile N of village of Clashnessie, on bold headland, only vestige of which now remaining is a low green mound almost level with surface of ground and is composed of earth and stones.
Name Book 1875.

Not a trace of artificial fortification remains. The situation is a narrow near-level shelf on NE tip of a promontory, showing evidence of sporadic digging, probably turf-cutting.
According to Milne (J Milne, Old Schoolhouse, Stoer), last remains of this feature were washed into sea about 20 years ago.

There is no trace of antiquity on this headland. Despite Milne's evidence, it is highly unlikely that there ever was a structure here, and certainly none has ever been known to local inhabitants. They have always applied name "An Dun" to NC03SE 4, which has been well known for at least three generations and Name Book 1875 description fits it perfectly. This is undoubtedly a misplot on old 6".
