Full Description

Brough (NR)
OS 6"map, Caithness, 2nd ed., (1907)

This partly-cultivated conical grassy mound 108ft in diameter and about 11ft high appears to contain the ruin of a broch although no structure is visible.
RCAHMS 1911.

This turf-covered mound survives to a height of 2.7m and is strewn with rubble stones. There is a very slight depression in the apex. Although the mound appears to be artifical there is now no definite evidence to suggest a broch, and it is possible that it is a cairn.
Resurveyed at 1:2500.
Visited by OS (N K B) 4 November 1964.

(ND 0400 6642) Mound (NR)
OS 6"map, (1969)

A mound of earth and stone as described by the previous authorities. It is prominently situated on a ridge at the edge of a field; the SE half has been ploughed and here the contours of the mound are levelled into the natural ground surface. No diagnostic features are exposed. Though of artificial construction, the date and purpose of the mound remain uncertain.
Visited by OS (N K B) 24 November 1981.
