Full Description
Breac Dubh (NAT) undescribed square features (nine shown). OS 6"map, (1963)
Within an irregular enclosed area are three rectangular footings and outside in the SE are three further ones. Dimensions range from 3.0m by 2.5m to 7.0m by 2.0m. The site is known as Breac Dubh (Information from D MacLean, Head Forester, Delvina Lodge, Syre to OS) and was cleared in 1814-19 (Prebble 1963). There is a hut circle (NC63NE 43D) also inside the enclosed area.

These are remains of shieling structures of which there are about nine, obscured by re-afforestation.

An enclosure is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1878, sheet xlv). Five unroofed shieling-huts and a length of the enclosure wall are shown on the current editions of the OS 1:10,000 map (1987) and (1992).
