Full Description

NC60NE 3 6698 0625

At NC 6698 0625 and NC 6699 0616, on an east-facing slope, are two hut circles (A and B respectively) accompanied by a scatter of field clearance heaps. The huts are heavily overgrown with peat.
'A' measures 9.5m diameter inside a wall reduced to a rubble spread
3.0m broad and up to 0.3m high; the entrance is in the ENE quadrant.
'B' measures about 7.0m diameter within an ill-defined wall; entrance is in the east.
Surveyed at 1:10 000.
Visited by OS (J M) 2 October 1980.

At the N end of a terrace on a gentle NE-facing slope there is a hut-circle (OS Hut 'A') which measures 9.5m in diameter within a bank spread to a thickness of 3m and standing 0.4m high. It has an entrance on the NE. The hut is overgrown with peat, but the heather cover has recently been burnt off. The second hut-circle (OS Hut'B' at NC 6699 0616) identified by the OS appears to be natural, as do the small cairns.
