Full Description

NC63NW 22 6287 3818.

At NC 6287 3818 on a SE-facing hillslope, within the area bounded by the township wall of Grumbeg, is a mutilated hut circle. It measures 11.5m in diameter within a wasted wall constructed of boulders and smaller stones. A small number of facing stones are visible around the wall, which is broken in several places, giving a width of about 1.5m. The entrance in the south arc appears to be splayed. Around the N arc of the hut and roughly parallel to it is a further wall. It is low, stony and heather-covered with a spread of 2.0m nd lies 1.5m to 2.0m from the hut wall. Its purpose is unknown, although drainage is a possibility. There are no traces of associated cultivation in the area.
Surveyed at 1:10,560.
Visited by OS (J B) 28 March 1977.
