Full Description
NC64NE 13 695 460.
At NC 6955 4599 and NC 6956 4602 is one certain and one possible hut circle (A and B respectively) set in opposing sides of a rounded knoll on a SE- facing slope. Associated land use is indicated by one or two stone clearance heaps near by.
'A' measures 7.5 by 6.0m internally with an entrance in the southeast on the line of the longer axis. The wall stands to 0.3m high and is spread to 2.0m intermittent facing stones are exposed in the SW exterior.
'B' appears as three elongated stony mounds up to 0.5m high, which partially enclose a fairly level area. These mounds may represent the severely mutilated remains of a wall, or they may be entirely natural. Occupying the summit of the knoll is a turf-covered stony mound measuring 10.0 by 9.0m across by 0.9m high. It is of irregular profile with no kerb or cist visible, and as such is probably clearance rather than a cairn.
Surveyed at 1:10 000.
Visited by OS (J M) 12 July 1978.
