Full Description

Unannotated circle OS 1:10,000 map, (1971)

On a W-facing hillslope is an enclosure with features characteristic of both hut circles and ruined sheepfolds. It is 8.7m in diameter within a wall spread to 2m wide and up to 0.5m high. A slight gap in S may indicate entrance. The wall in N is peat and heather-covered resembling the condition of many hut circle walls, but in S half it is of bare stone protruding through turf in the nature of numerous post-medieval and early-modern structures. From the evidence, date and purpose of the enclosure cannot be ascertained. The large banked enclosure in which it stands is relatively modern, but no visible link with circular enclosure.
Revised at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (J B) 1 October 1980.
