Full Description

NH59NE 24 582 964.

Centred on NH 582 964 is a field system of a type usually associated with hut circle settlement. It is best seen as an open to scattered density of stone clearance mounds interspersed with sporadic linear clearance; occasional lynchets are also in evidence. One or two cultivation plots of approximately 20.0m by 25.0m are discernible. The situation is in rising moorland open to the W.
Visited by OS (J M) 4 November 1976.

(NH 5806 9640) A possible hut circle, 5m in diameter and 0.5m high.
R J Mercer 1980.

There is no hut circle at this map reference or in the
vicinity. The feature was not positively indentified but
there are one or two configurations of stone clearnce
which could fit the description.
This field-system has largely been destroyed by the creation of a forestry plantation.
Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) October 1989.
